To join us in our RDA activities, we will need to ask you a few questions to asses your abilities and preferences.

RDA Riding Enquiries

We are not currently adding to our RDA riding waiting list as we are working through our COVID backlog, but hope to reopen this in May.

Waiting List Process

Such is the demand for our activities when we are contacted about the waiting list, we will have a short discussion to find out a little bit more about abilities and preferences, as we offer a range of horse-based activities that might be suitable. These include group riding lessons, vaulting classes, driving, horse care and tea with a pony. Each of these has different waiting times and participant requirements which mean we can cater for a wide range of participants – to find out more about each of these activities please see the ‘what we do’ section of the website.

We have a rider enquiry form, which covers things like height, weight, previous experience with horses etc. and it may be that some activities are more suited than others. At this point we will arrange a visit to the centre to see our staff, ponies and facilities, to get a feel for the environment and make sure everything is right.

After we have looked at the enquiry form and met in person, we will then make a recommendation about suitable activities and the approximate waiting time.

Assessments

Once you have reached the top of the waiting list, we will ask you to come in for an assessment. We will spend time talking through your abilities and carry out some short assessments (completed by a physio or our staff depending on your rider enquiry form). These sessions might include a chance to ride one of our horses and ponies, if we feel it is safe to do so.
