Tribute to Christine Clay
19th June 1943 – 29th August 2026
We celebrate Christine Clay, whose commitment to The Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders spanned more than 40 years.
Chris was far more than an instructor and volunteer. She was a constant presence, a trusted mentor, an inspiring teacher and a dear friend to countless riders, volunteers and families. Through her passion for horses and her unwavering belief in people, she helped individuals of all ages and abilities grow in confidence, develop new skills, and experience the joy of riding.
For more than 44 years, Christine devoted herself to The Diamond Centre, playing a pivotal role in its development and success. In the early formative years of the Centre, she helped establish the high standards and values that continue to shape Diamond today. Her knowledge, dedication and tireless commitment created opportunities for generations of riders to achieve more than they ever thought possible. The extraordinary contribution she made was recognised in 2021 when she received the prestigious RDA President’s Award, one of the highest honours bestowed upon Riding for the Disabled Association volunteers, recognising service of an exceptional nature. Chris Clay was recognised for being a long-serving volunteer who helped pave the way for much of what Diamond does today.
Whether she was teaching a lesson, supporting volunteers, helping at dressage events, loaning her beloved horse Bianca for riders competing for such events as Horse of the Year Show and Hartpury National Championships, or offering encouragement from the sidelines, Chris gave her time generously and selflessly.
The impact Chris made cannot be measured simply by the years she served. Her legacy lives on in the confidence she inspired, the friendships she fostered and the community she helped build. She leaves behind a Diamond generation of riders and volunteers who will forever be grateful for her guidance and support.
On behalf of everyone at The Diamond Centre, we extend our heartfelt thanks for Christine’s extraordinary service, friendship and unwavering commitment. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered and forever appreciated.
In keeping with Chris’ lifelong dedication to The Diamond Centre, her family has kindly requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to her nominated charities https://alangreenwoodfunerals.com/…/christine-sandra-clay/
